Getting started

Install Elite Balance, understand what activation sets up, and take the ten minute tour from first credit to first wallet payment.

Requirements

Elite Balance is a premium wallet and store credit plugin for WooCommerce. It needs:

  • WordPress 6.6 or newer
  • WooCommerce 9.0 or newer
  • PHP 7.4 or newer (PHP 8.2+ recommended)

It is compatible with High Performance Order Storage (HPOS) and with both the classic checkout and the Cart and Checkout Blocks, from the first release.

Installation

  1. Download the plugin zip from your WooCommerce.com account (your purchase appears under My subscriptions).
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, and click Install Now.
  3. Activate it.

Updates and license validation are handled by your WooCommerce.com subscription through the WooCommerce.com Update Manager, so there is no license key to paste anywhere.

On activation the plugin creates its three database tables (wallets, the transaction ledger, and holds) and grants wallet management capabilities to administrators and shop managers. Nothing customer-facing changes yet: the payment gateway starts disabled and no emails send until a wallet actually moves.

Where everything lives

PlaceWhat you find there
WooCommerce → Elite BalanceThe working area: Overview, Wallets, Bulk operations, Transactions, Earning (automatic reward rules), Tools (migration and other occasional utilities), and Support (these docs, the contact link, and the site info a support request needs). The last tab, Settings, is a shortcut to the plugin settings below.
WooCommerce → Settings → Elite BalancePlugin settings: the customer wallet page, top-ups, wallet management, and pointers to checkout and email settings.
WooCommerce → Settings → PaymentsThe Elite Balance Wallet gateway: enable it and switch partial payments on.
WooCommerce → Settings → EmailsThe three wallet emails, each on its own screen like every WooCommerce email.
My Account → WalletWhat your customers see: balance, top-up form, and history. You can rename this page and its URL.

The ten minute tour

  1. Enable the gateway. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments, enable Elite Balance Wallet, and (recommended) switch on partial payments in its settings.
  2. Credit yourself. Open WooCommerce → Elite Balance → Overview and use the add funds quick action on your own account: pick an amount, pick a reason, save. Reasons are required on every manual adjustment, always.
  3. Look at the ledger. Open the Transactions tab. Your credit is there with the balance after it. Every movement the plugin ever makes will appear in this ledger, permanently.
  4. See the customer side. Visit My Account → Wallet on the frontend. The balance, the top-up form (if enabled), and the same history in customer-friendly words.
  5. Spend it. Add a product to the cart and check out. Pay fully by wallet, or partially if the balance does not cover the order: the wallet covers what it can and any other gateway takes the rest.
  6. Refund it. Open the order, refund it, and choose to return the money as store credit. The wallet is credited and both movements sit in the ledger, linked to the order.

If you are switching from another wallet plugin, read Migrating from another wallet plugin before inviting customers in: one click brings every balance over with a reconciliation report.

How the ledger works explains the ideas underneath in five minutes, and makes everything else in these docs obvious.
